OC's and fursonas

Has anyone made OCs or fursonas of their kithtype? Why do you do it? What do you use them for? Are they like you, or something completely different?

I have a bonobo alter ego and fursona, as I'm quite active in the furry scene. I draw, write stories, do the odd RP, just use it as a handle when I go to furmeets. I have a whole world of secondary characters I use for my creative pursuits. She's like me but with some tweaks, being a fursona and everything (she lives in an urban planet of the apes world sometimes and sometimes she's from a language lab in the human world.)

I also use my bonobo alias everywhere else online, and when not in furry contexts she is me but how I'd rather be/how I picture myself. Then I use it for RP-ing or just being on the internet, I guess. It's an excuse to be a bonobo in a universe where magical shape-shifting powers aren't a thing! (Sadly...)

I have a lot of different characters that I build suits for, personally, but I have yet to actually make a fursona representing myself?
But I'm considering a feline suit of some sort, since I'm cat-hearted and really love drawing felines. And a maned wolf suit is on my list, too, since my daemon is a maned wolf and I do kind of consider myself a maned wolf-hearted person as an extension of that?
I just really love bringing characters to life and getting them from paper to fursuit. <3 So I apply my 'heartedness to the characters I create.
